NOTE: If your students have Google accounts (they use Google docs, for example), then they can directly login to Game Changineer by clicking on the "Click to Sign in with Google" button from the login page

If your students

• do not have Google accounts (do not use Google docs, etc.), and
• do not have other email accounts that can receive email from Game Changineer
• please note that many schools' emails are managed by Google, and thus are Google accounts!

3-Step Instructions for creating accounts for your students

• Step 1: Create a gmail account for yourself (if you do not already have one) from gmail.com. Let's say the email is alice_gc@gmail.com
• Step 2: Next, go to gc.ece.vt.edu and register for each of your students. Suppose you have 2 students, John A. and Susan B. Then, enter their emails as alice_gc+john_a@gmail.com and alice_gc+susan_b@gmail.com
  When registering each student (alice_gc+john_a@gmail.com and alice_gc+susan_b@gmail.com) on gc.ece.vt.edu, choose a password for each student.
  • Alternative Step 2B: the teacher can use the last 4 digits of the students' id. For example: alice_gc+1234@gmail.com and alice_gc+5678@gmail.com
  • Note: the '+' in the email is necessary. The two student emails above are 'dummy/substitute' accounts. Gmail will still route all messages sent to the student accounts to alice_gc@gmail.com -- in other words, the characters after and including '+' but before '@', though present, are not considered by gmail.
• Step 3: A confirmation email will be sent for each created account, but all these emails will go to alice_gc@gmail.com, which you as the teacher will have to click to finalize the registration (You must click on every confirmation! If you register 10 students, you should receive 10 confirmation emails and you must confirm all 10 of them)
• After all the registrations are completed/confirmed, each student should be able to log in using the above dummy/substitute accounts. For example, John A. will log on to gc.ece.vt.edu with 'alice_gc+john_a@gmail.com' and the corresponding password
• Each student can also change his/her password by pressing the Change Password button after he/she is logged in
• Note that if John A. forgets his password, pressing the "Forgot Password" corresponding to alice_gc+john_a@gmail.com on the login page will send a notification to alice_gc@gmail.com -- the teacher will need to click the link in the email to help John A. set up a new password
